The holders of licenses for pharmaceutical activity have lower supplies of medical masks than the demand on the pharmaceutical market. This fact is influenced by the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 and by the fact that some persons buy such masks in exaggerated numbers. As a result, the supplies in some of the drugstores were used up, the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices stated in a response to an inquiry made by IPN.
“The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection is making considerable effort to manage the created situation and to further provide the pharmaceutical market with medicines and medical devices (medical masks) at reasonable prices,” says the response.
The Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices called on the population not to purchase medical face masks in large numbers as this leads to an artificial shortage, but there are patients who are urgently in need of such masks.
In the March 11 meeting, the Cabinet banned the export of medical face masks and gloves and of products included in the National Register of Biocide Proust and the State Register of Medical Devices on a temporary basis.
