Prosecutor’s Office to be notified of food poisoning case at Tohatin school

 The Chisinau City Hall will inform the Prosecutor’s Office of the case of student food positioning at Secondary School. No.74 of Tohatin commune, acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu announced in the March 11 meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions, IPN reports.

The mayor instructed to submit an application in his name, together with the results of the inspection carried out last week by inspectors of the National Food Safety Agency at the public food combine “Adolescența” based in Ciocana district of Chisinau, which supplies food to Secondary School No. 74.

The inspectors identified a number of irregularities, such as decaying vegetables, fish kept together with meat, biscuits with the expired use-by date and others. “I think those who economize on health, especially on children’s health, should be jailed,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.

According to the acting head of the General Social Assistance and Health Division Carolina Olaru, the children will be prepared today for discharge. Specialists of the Public Health Center are performing an epidemiological investigation to find out the circumstances that favored the spread of infection.

Twelve children aged between 7 and 15 of Secondary School. No.74 of Tohatin on March 6 were taken to the Municipal Children’s Contagious Diseases Hospital with signs of food poisoning. Ten of them were hospitalized. Two more minors were hospitalized the next day with similar symptoms.
