Prosecutor’s Office arrests Romanian suspected of trying to usurp state power

The General Prosecutor’s Office arrested a Romanian citizen. In a communiqué issued earlier today, the Prosecutor’s Office says that legal action was taken against the Romanian national Jordan N. over organization of public disorder and taking of actions to usurp the state power, but does not specify his age and occupation. According to the quoted source, while searching his place on April 9, the police found and seized multiplied maps of Chisinau city, photos of the administrative buildings, including the Parliament and the Presidential Office, and adapted bottles with inflammable substances. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the press officer of the General Prosecutor’s Office Maria Vieru said that no more information is yet available, avoiding offering details about the age and occupation of the Romanian citizen and how he was caught. The Jurists for Human Rights Association said that in such a case the Romanian authorities can assist the citizen of Romania. The Romanian consul in Chisinau can visit him and help him select a lawyer that will defend him in court. A person found guilty of usurping state power faces 25 years in jail.
