The head of the public association “Moldova mea” Fiodor Ghelici accuses the prosecution bodies of avoiding starting criminal cases even if evidence of offenses is presented. He said he bases his accusations on the numerous complaints received by the NGO he heads.
In a news conference at IPN, Fiodor Ghelici said the people complain that the prosecutors classify the cases as administrative offenses even if they provide evidence showing these are criminal cases. Even when the victims go to court and win the case, the decision is not an argument for the prosecutor to take legal action. “Something paradoxical happens in our country. For everyone, the court decision is mandatory and definitive. The prosecutor’s office is the only caste that ignores the court decision,” he stated.
The activist said things stand worse when the wrongdoings are committed by MPs as these have impunity. “Moldova mea” received a number of complaints from athletes referring to Nicolae Juravski, MP and president of the National Olympic and Sports Committee. They said Juravski appropriated their scholarships. Even if complaints were submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case wasn’t started. Also, MP Vladimir Hotineanu, who is a doctor by profession, is accused of illegally collecting money for surgery.
In this connection, Fiodor Ghelici requested the Speaker of Parliament, the Premier and the leader of the ruling Democratic Party to examine these cases. “The parliamentary impunity should be annulled so that everyone is treated equally,” stated the activist.
