The chief prosecutor of the municipality of Chisinau will have ten deputies. This now has five deputies who are the heads of the five local offices situated in Centru, Botanica, Râșcani, Buiucani and Ciocana districts of the capital city. As a result of these changes that were approved by the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the five new deputies will be the deputies of the local offices of the Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office, IPN reports.

The changes were approved at the request of Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. According to him, the situation in the municipality of Chisinau is rather difficult. The examination of the quality and quantity indicators at this institution following the merger of the district prosecutor’s offices revealed that the local offices are managed inappropriately.

Alexandr Stoianoglo said that after assessing the activity of the municipal prosecutor’s office during the past three years, it was proposed that ten prosecutors of the municipal prosecutor’s office of the 168 should serve as deputy prosecutors of the municipality of Chisinau.

Also, the prosecutor general proposed increasing the number of prosecutors at the Cahul Prosecutor’s Office by one unit instead of the vacancy at the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases. Statistics at the end of 2019 showed that the Cahul Prosecutor’s Office handled 1,025 cases under examination. According to Alexandru Stoianoglo, this is a heavy workload and more prosecutors are needed to cope with it.

In the same meeting, the Superior Council of Prosecutors announced a contest to fill the vacancies of chief prosecutor in Dondușeni, Drochia, Telenești, Florești, Ștefan Vodă, and Cahul.
