Prosecutor General’s Office says number of offences has decreased
A number of 22,000 offences have been reported in Moldova in the first eleven months of this year, a 4.4% decrease compared with the corresponding period last year, a press release from the Prosecutor General’s Office says.
According to the communique, the extremely serious offences decreased in number by 7.7%, felonies by 15.4%, while misdemeanours by 13.3%.
At the same time, the number of certain categories of offences has increased: intentional bodily injuries by 11.6%, rapes by 3.3%. The number of less serious offences rose by 58%.
As many as 199 murders were reported in the country over January-November 2007, by 33 fewer compared with last year, the same period.
The offences discovered in the municipality of Chisinau totalled 5,104, a 15.9% decrease compared with the corresponding period of 2006 (6,068 offences).
In the first eleven months of 2007, the prosecutors examined 20,809 petitions and heard 29,515 people, including 4,383 at the place of residence and at work.
