Prosecutor General will be counseled by EU adviser
Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco will be assisted by an EU policy adviser from April 5, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO).
German adviser Holger Helmbach was chosen at a contest held by the United Nations Development Program and the Prosecutor General’s Office. He will work together with the Moldovan prosecutors and will help accelerate the institutional reforms.
During the first month of work, the adviser will devise a plan of action that lay the basis of the project that is to be implemented over a year. He will monthly compile detailed reports on the results achieved and the future priorities so that the project is effective and the reform of the PGO is implemented smoothly.
“This support is now very welcome as solid reforms have been initiated at the PGO. The experience of the EU adviser will help adopt new approaches to the problems faced by the Moldovan prosecutors in their work,” said Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco.
Last October, the authorities asked for support in accelerating Moldova’s integration into the EU.
