Prosecutor general meets with U.S. ambassador to Moldova

Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin had a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit and with representatives of the Embassy responsible for criminal justice and law enforcement. The officials discussed the implementation of the assistance and cooperation projects. Corneliu Gurin thanked the United States Embassy and the American people for the support provided directly and through the implemented projects, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, James D. Pettit inquired about the pace of reforms in the areas for which the PGO is responsible, reiterating the importance of the new bills concerning the reform of the prosecution service that are to be passed by Parliament.

Among other subjects discussed was the international and bilateral judicial cooperation, including within the investigations into the bank frauds committed in Moldova and the relevant support offered to the specialized bodies.

The interlocutors also conferred on the further implementation of the pans of technical assistance, expertise and training for Moldovan prosecutors.
