Political commentator Victor Gurău said the current government stages at attack on the prospector general in order to diminish the institutional capacity of the prosecution service. According to him, politics is always guided by undeclared strategic scores that are not known by the ordinary people and revanchist campaigns are needed to distract the people’s attention from the bigger problems so as to achieve these scores, IPN reports.
In the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, the commentator stated the political power factor dominates in Moldova at present. “The one who is in power has a negative impact on all the other state institutions as the current political class is pragmatically and procedurally unable to improve things,” stated Victor Gurău.
Lawyer Victor Panțâru said the taking of legal action against the prosecutor general is a delicate, but not impossible issue. Before the immunity of ex-Premier Vlad Filat was lifted and this was charged, the people didn’t anticipate such a development. “But this is possible. This could be possible also in the case of the prosecutor general, but the difference between Vlad Filat and the prosecutor general is that the latter enjoys particular guarantees that should be respected and those who make such approaches should be very attentive first of all to the procedures and to those with whom they start this rather thorny and responsible process as, if they commit mistakes, all those who initiated these procedures will be affected,” he stated.
Moldova’s Parliament will convene on July 9 to initiate the procedure for dismissing Eduard Harunjen from the post of prosecutor general. President Igor Dodon informed about this through his Facebook page.
