Prosecutor General evaluation amendment passes final vote

Parliament today adopted in the final reading a bill that introduces the Prosecutor General’s evaluation.

Under the procedure, a commission will evaluate the job done by the Prosecutor General, based on which the Superior Council of Prosecutors will rate it as ‘excellent’, ‘good’ or ‘unsatisfactory’. In case of an ‘unsatisfactory’ rating, the Superior Council of Prosecutors will propose to the President the dismissal of the Prosecutor General.

The procedure can occur once a year.

The Bloc of Communists and Socialists voted against the bill after their second-reading proposals were rejected.
