After 1914 days of prosecution and 213 hearings, prosecutor Marcel Tumuruc, deputy anti-corruption prosecutor, asked that the charges against Vladimir Sarban be dropped in both of the cases as [the evidence does not prove his guilt]. For his part, Vladimir Sarban asks who will restore his health, dignity and honor that were damaged by the loyal servants of the Communist regime, Info-Prim Neo reports. In his discourse at the 214th hearing on January 21, Tumuruc said the legal cases opened against Vladimir Sarban should be closed as the fact that he misused his authority when purchasing Volkswagen-Transporter T-4 ambulances for the Municipal Clinical Emergency Hospital was not proven. As regards the accusation that Sarban misused his power when issuing construction authorizations to SRL Mann, prosecutor Tumuruc said the secretary of the Chisinau City Hall was to put the stamp on the mentioned documents only, not to draw them up and validate them. Sraban's actions can be regarded as negligence, but given that the link between the steps taken by Sarban and the damage caused to the municipality of Chisinau has not been proven, he must be spared from penal responsibility, he said. Wen speaking during the 215th hearing on February 8, Vladimir Sarban said the prosecutor's discourse did not bring him moral satisfaction as he spent [333 days and nights] at the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime and at other remand centers. He said it it impossible to rejoice when the one who ascertained that there are no reasons to continue the prosecution does not have courage to apologize at least for his own inaction to the legalities committed in this trial. Moreover, he tries to escape scot-free from this dirty game, telling only parts of the truth. After he put a number of thorny questions to the prosecutor and received no plausible answer, Sraban, who is a jurist by profession, said Tumuruc acted as he was being told by the “red king” so as to be promoted and get a better job. Do such principles as legality and presumption of innocence or someone's suffering count in such a situation? Sarban said officer Gorea confessed that he received orders to fabricate evidence against him, but was later arrested and imprisoned. Ultimately, he won the case at the ECHR. Meanwhile, prosecutor Marza, realizing that the game becomes more serious, left the institution and then the country as they say. Vladimir Sarban demanded taking attitude to the non-observance of the legislation and the human rights when he was arrested given that the Supreme Court of Justice ruled that there were no reasons to issue arrest warrants against him and reject the defense's applications over this. Sarban spoke about the ordeal he had been through while under arrest, in prison and on trial. “We hope things in this country will change... But who will restore my health, dignity and honor and what about the moral suffering of my wife, relatives and friends? Who will pay for this?” he asked. The court is now considering the next steps and is to pronounce on the two cases.
