A lawyer was arrested on suspicion of corruption following searches at his office and home. A prosecutor is also investigated for corruption and was also subject to searches. According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the lawyer passed on €10,000 bribe to the state prosecutor for taking a favorable division in a criminal case that was in his charge, IPN reports.

As a result of the cooperation of a denouncer with the authorities, it was determined that this person transmitted a first tranche of €7,000 to the lawyer. The lawyer was arrested immediately after he obtained a favorable decision from the prosecutor and, respectively, after he received the second tranche of €3,000.

Prosecutors and anticorruption officers carried out searches in the offices and homes of the given prosecutor and lawyer with the assistance of officers of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
