Starting with September 1, all the social benefits paid until now through Banca de Economii will be transferred to the state-run company “Moldova’s Post Office”. A bill to this effect was submitted by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family for public debates, IPN reports.
Until August 26, Banca de Economii is to transfer back the financial resources that weren’t used to pay social welfare (pensions, state social allowances) to the accounts of the National House of Social Insurance and to present relevant reports.
The persons who received social benefits through Banca de Economii can change the payment service provider by submitting a relevant application to another bank. Until then the social benefits will be paid through “Moldova’s Post Office”.
The regulation of the transfer of social benefits paid through Banca de Economii is one of the measures that will be taken until the three problematic banks are liquidated by depriving them of licenses. The accounts of the state institutions opened at Banca de Economii and the deposits of private individuals will be also transferred to other banks. According to the National Bank of Moldova, 70% of the deposits (of about 8.5 billion lei) have been transferred. These preparatory procedures, before the withdrawal of licenses, must be completed by October 16.
