One year has passed since the intention to set up a public parking lot on three of the five stories of the Parliament’s car park was announced, but the project hasn’t been yet designed. Contacted by IPN, deputy mayor of Chisinau Victor Chironda said the project is the responsibility of the administration of the Parliament’s garage.

A year also passed since the municipal authorities announced that they were looking for the sum of 70 million lei for building parking places on the sides of streets in Chisinau, including on the main arteries. Asked about this, Victor Chironda said those in charge from the General Public Transport and Communications Division are working on this project and details will be provided when this is finished.

The deputy mayor also said that car parking on a number of street sections was banned. When sidewalks were renovated, parking places were set up there where these do not impede pedestrians and public transport.

A year ago, Mayor Ion Ceban said private investors were invited to become involved in the building of parking lots with 700-1,000 places.
