The observers of Promo-LEX Association reported a number of shortcomings witnessed at polling places in settlements during the first part of the day, including insufficient equipment of polling places, campaigning and organized transportation of voters. The Observation Mission’s head Pavel Postica in a press briefing said that the situation is yet better than in the first round of the local elections, when there were fights too, IPN reports.
As regards the insufficient equipment, Pavel Postica said the local observers reported 19 such cases, namely the absence of safes with the ballots being kept on the table or in buildings in the vicinity of the polling places, inappropriate lighting, problems with the Internet connection and improper placement of voting booths.
At a number of polling places in Donduseni, Basarabeasca and Ialoveni, voters were transported in an organized way. There were reported seven cases of campaigning in Donduseni, Basarabeasca, Soldanesti, and Ialoveni. Most of the times, the candidates themselves had long discussions with voters near polling places on the pretext they came to vote. Also, there were unauthorized persons in polling places. A number of MPs with the domicile in other constituencies came to a polling place in Chisinau.
As to voting in Topala, Cimislia, where a protest was mounted, Pavel Postica said the situation there is stable. The protesters are near the polling place, but no longer bar access to it. Another incident happened at a polling place in Bacioi commune of Chisinau municipality, where four voters written on additional lists tried to take three ballots out after casting only one ballot. The polling pace’s head intervened and these insulted him. The police were informed about this case.
