In the second half of the day, the observers of Promo-LEX Association identified new irregularities in the voting process. These are similar to those reported in the first half of the day and include the organized transportation of voters, lack of safes in polling places, campaigning and attempts to intimidate the observers. At two polling places, attempts were made to block the access of persons who apparently were not from the settlement, IPN reports.
The Observation Mission’s head Pavel Postica in a press briefing said that until 7pm the observers of Promo-LEX identified new equipment deficiencies at another 18 polling places in Cahul, Hancesti, Causeni, Soroca, Edinet, Sangerei and other districts. The given polling places didn’t have safes where to store the ballots or didn’t have Internet connection.
Near polling places in Balti and Chisinau municipalities and in Taraclia district, there were identified cases of hidden or open publicity or even of campaigning. The observers reported another at least nine cases of organized transportation of voters to polling places in Chisinau, Bacioi, Comrat, Rezina, Donduseni, Causeni, etc. A team of observers in Causeni was followed up to the outskirts of the settlement and this incident is classed as intimidation attempt.
Pavel Postica noted that in Dubasari district, a person collected identity cards from a number of elderly persons, promising them a mobile ballot box will be brought to them. The police were informed about this case. The police also ensured the voting process in Topala village of Cimislia district, where a protest was mounted, and the situation there was stable. In Falesti, a person didn’t allow persons who apparently weren’t from the settlement to enter the polling place. The police intervened in this case too.
The observers also reported cases of sale of alcoholic beverages near polling places, presence of unauthorized persons in polling places and taking of ballots out of polling places. At 10am on June 29, the Observation Mission will present the results of the parallel count of the votes cast in the municipalities of Chisinau and Comrat.
