Four long-term observers and by a short-term observer will oversee the organization and hooding of the snap local elections of May 29 on behalf of Promo-LEX Association. The observation of the electoral process will cover the electoral period and election day, including the runoff vote in the settlements in which this will be held, IPN reports.
The observers will oversee the work of the electoral bodies and other relevant institutions and the performance of election contenders and political parties, including the financing of the election campaign, says a press release issued by Promo-LEX Association.
On election day, the observers will monitor opening and closure of polling stations, voting process, accessibility of polling places and vote count. The observation mission of Promo-LEX will ensure a parallel vote count. The next day after elections, there will be published by a press release for each round of voting. The general monitoring results, conclusions and recommendations of the Observation Mission will be incorporated into a final report.
Starting with 2009, Promo-LEX has observed 22 elections.
