Promo-Lex informs about propaganda actions by PCRM
The monitors of Promo-Lex Association recorded a number of irregularities on the day of the referendum. Most of them concern intimidation of voters by sympathizers of the Communists Party (PCRM) that boycotts the plebiscite, Promo-Lex head Ion Manole told a news conference.
According to Manole, the mayor of Celeseu village, Orhei district, who is a member of the PCRM, campaigned in front of the local polling place No. 77 together with his driver, urging the voters not to take part in the referendum or vote against amending the Constitution.
At polling place No. 12/36 in Balasesti, Criuleni, supporters of the PCRM campaigned inside the place, with the members of the electoral office doing nothing to stop them.
Two persons urged the voters to boycott the referendum near polling place No. 46 in Chisinau. Similar cases were reported in Novoselovka, Budai and Albota de Sus villages of Taracalia district and in Comrat town.
At polling place No. 16 in Balasinesti, Briceni, the electoral office’s head left the place for an indefinite period. At the same polling place, more than one person entered the voting booth simultaneously, mainly couples.
A voter aged 70 tried to put five ballots in the box at polling place No. 242 in Chisinau’s Botanica district. The members of the electoral office drew up a report to cancel four of the five ballots taken by the man from the commission’s table.
Promo-Lex deployed monitors to oversee the voting process in all the 300 polling places.
