The results of the parallel vote count in Chisinau and Comrat, carried out by Promo-LEX Association, mainly coincide with the results presented by the Central Election Commission (CEC). The head of the Association’s Observation Mission Pavel Postica in a press briefing on June 29 said the calculation errors in the vote counting reports cannot yet influence the results of the candidates who ran in the mayoral elections in the two municipalities, IPN reports.
Pavel Postica noted that the results in Comrat coincide fully with the data presented by the CEC. The candidate of the “Our Party” Serghei Anastasov polled 6,357 votes, which is 55.39% of the poll, while independent candidate Nicolai Dudoglo – 5,119 votes or 44.61% of the ballot.
There are small discrepancies in Chisinau, but they cannot affect the final score. According to the results of the parallel vote count performed by Promo-LEX, Zinaida Grecheanyi polled 141 953 votes, by 24 votes more than the result presented by the CEC. Dorin Chirtoaca won 163,544 votes, by 26 votes fewer than the result presented by the CEC.
Pavel Postica explained the differences are mainly due to calculation errors in the vote counting reports. This is because of the insufficient training of the members of the electoral offices and also perhaps to tiredness. In this regard, Promo-LEX recommends the CEC to adjust the software used at present so that all the information coming from the first source is verified. These differences can generate political speculations and demands to recount the votes.
The Monitoring of the Local General Elections of June 14 (28), 2015 was carried out by Promo-LEX within the Democratic Processes Monitoring Program. The Observation Mission forms part of the activities staged by civil society under the aegis of the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections.
