Projects of up to 35,000 euros as part of Moldovan-German scientific and technological cooperation program
The Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) at its last meeting approved the conditions for participating in a contest of projects as part of a Moldovan-German scientific and technological cooperation program, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A memorandum of intention was signed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova this March. The German authorities proposed initiating joint projects in the area, with an implementation period of 1 year. Germany will contribute up to 25,000 euros for a project, while the Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development of the ASM – up to 10,000 euros. There will be not more than 15 projects overall. They will constitute the first phase in promoting the bilateral cooperation. If the first phase is successful, the projects for the second phase will be of a higher value.
According to a communiqué from the ASM, the adjudicators will assess and promote for financing projects in the following research areas: citizens and governance in a society based on knowledge; information and communication technology; biomedicine, pharmaceutics and healthcare; agricultural biotechnologies and food security; nanotechnologies, industrial engineering and new materials; environment and renewable sources of energy.
The consortium of the project will be composed of at least one team from a German research institution and of a team from Moldova. Only the research institutions and universities accredited by the National Attestation and Accreditation Council of Moldova can participate. The Moldovan team must be made up at least 50% of young researchers (up to 35 years).
The deadline for presenting the project proposals is July 4, 2008.
