The representative office of the Swiss foundation Terre des Hommes in Moldova will present the MOVE project in Chisinau on January 17. The project commenced in September 2008. It is financially supported by the UEFA and aims to support the most vulnerable children through games and sport, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Terre des Hommes, the tools applied as part of the project will be presented with the help of animators and children from Cricova town of Chisinau municipality, Danceni village and Hansca village of Ialoveni district. MOVE is intended to improve the emotional state of the children by strengthening the psychosocial and methodological competencies of the animators that work with the children. Projects supporting the most vulnerable children often turn to activities such as games, sport or art. On an individual level these activities enable the children to reinforce their own personal and social capacities and on a more global level, they support reintegration of the children into their family, local community and/or school system. In Moldova, MOVE is at the second stage of implementation. It will be completed in 2011. Thanks to a partnership with the UEFA for four years, Terre des Hommes is implementing MOVE - Psychosocial Development of Children through Games and Sport, based on the MGS model in the four countries of intervention in Central and South Eastern Europe (Albania, Kosovo, Moldova and Romania). The project plans to train community-based animators, sport teachers, primary school teachers and Terre des Hommes staff in order to improve their competencies. The project goes through 3 phases: a two-week training focused on methodology and psychosocial topics, through practice and games; a six-week coaching period including individual coaching visits in the field and group supervisions; three replication sessions with peers within six months. Sport events will be organized in every country involving parents and communities. Micro-initiatives will be supported for the rehabilitation of sport facilities in schools or local associations, as well as micro-grants for recreational equipment in order to improve the environment of the most disadvantaged communities. Terre des Hommes, Lausanne, is a Swiss organization that defends children’s rights in 32 countries of the worlds. It promotes the respect for the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and carries out activities in close cooperation with the parents, community members, authorities and civil society.
