The project to build a parking lot for trailers in Moldova failed because the private investor that expressed interest in the initiative faced particular financial difficulties.
In a response to IPN News Agency, Tourism Agency director Stanislav Rusu said the initiative was launched by the former government and was to be put into practice based on a public-private partnership.
Stanislav Rusu considers the idea is a practical one and is necessary for the tourism industry. “The trailer park where tourists could clean their vehicles, have a rest and take a shower necessitates yet very large investments,” he stated, adding that without private investments the project cannot be implemented.
The initiative was put forward in 2013. Under the plan of action for implementing the tourism development strategy “Tourism 2020”, at least one trailer park was to be built until 2016.
