The feasibility study concerning the construction of the car bridge over the Prut River in Ungheni will be finished in May. The issue was discussed by Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari and his Romanian counterpart Ramona Manescu in Bucharest. The officials signed a memorandum of cooperation in the transport sphere, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of Moldova, the construction of the car bridge will enable to connect the Targu Mures – Iasi – Ungheni highway to the national road R1 Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni at the border with Romania.
The ministers also discussed the modernization of the railroad between Moldova and Romania. Ramona Manescu said that the Socola terminal in Iasi will be laid out by this summer. It will enable to reduce the length of a trip from Ungheni to Iasi by one hour.
