The Civic Initiative Group has launched the project “Electoral test – local general elections” that is an electronic platform designed to make election contenders’ views on local problems transparent. The election runners filled out a questionnaire with questions from different areas, while the voters, answering the same questions of the questionnaire placed on www.testelectoral.md, can see if their electoral options coincide with the programs of each of the election contenders.
In a news conference at IPN, project coordinator Rodion Gavriloi said the project covers Chisinau, Balti, Comrat and Cahul. Practically each of the election runners in the four cities accepted to complete the questionnaire, but those who didn’t answer these questions have yet time to do it.
For their part, the voters can contrast their views and the views of the contenders by filling out the questionnaire themselves. Each question of the questionnaire has three possible answers: “I agree”, “I disagree” and “I refrain”. The answers of the election runners contain their arguments. After answering all the questions, the respondent sees the result in the form of a list of all the contenders, which shows the level of coincidence with the answers of each of these There is also provided a table where the own answers can be compared with the answers of each election runner.
Coordinator in Balti Ion Ciobanu said the questions refer to local problems from all the areas and were formulated so as to allow the respondents to formulate a clear position, without unanimous answers. The project is designed to better inform the voters and to mobilize them and to make contenders’ platforms transparent.
The site is available in Romanian and Russian, while in the case of Comrat municipality there is also the Gagauz version available. The project TestElectoral.md for the local general elections was worked out with financial support from the European Foundation for Democracy. The value of the project is over €8,000.
