The activities organised to celebrate the public holiday Our Language will start in the morning of August 31 with laying of flowers to the monument of Stephan the Great and at the busts from the Alley of Classic Writers. A recital of music and poetry titled “Homage to the Romanian Language”, a handicrafts fair and book launches will take place in the public garden Stephan the Great starting at 9.30. The cultural and artistic events such as solemnities, concerts and exhibitions planned to take place in the districts, towns, villages and communes of the municipality of Chisinau will start at 11.00. The sixteenth edition of the International Book Fair dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the National Library will open at 12.00. A religious ceremony to remember the pioneers themed “In Memoriam” will be held at the Central Cemetery located on Armeneasca Street starting at 13.00. The program of activities also includes the inauguration of the exhibition of works by young painters from Chisinau municipality “Song of Praise to Mother Verb” and the launch of a new number of the Romanian Language journal at the Romanian Language House at 14.00. The contest-exhibition of plastic arts “Moldova’s Exhibitions” organised by the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova in cooperation with the Division for Culture, Religion and National Cultural Patrimony of the Romanian county of Bacau will open at the Exhibitions Center Brancusi also at 14.00. A concert by children’s bands and singers will start in the Great National Assembly Square at 15.00. The festive performance dedicated to the public holiday Our Language will be held in the National Assembly Square as from 17.30. The Romanian artist Tudor Gheorghe will give a recital of music and poetry starting at 19.30. A concert by national singers of pop and folk music, including Nicolae Glib, Olga Ciolacu, Vitalie Dani, Aura, Alexa, Adrian Ursu and others, will start at 20.30. The Romanian band “3rei Sud Est” will close the festivities with a concert programmed to start at 22.20 and end at 23.30.
