The public association Service for Peace and the Global Media Creative Hub have launched a national program to assess and extend the Republic of Moldova’s involvement in the alleviation of the effects of the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The project is designed to correctly inform the Ukrainian citizens and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova about the contribution and involvement of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, NGOs and the international community in the management of the refugee crisis.
In a news conference staged by IPN, the head of the public association Service for Peace Liviu Moraru president of the Global Media Creative Hub, said the war in Ukraine caused difficulties all over the world, including in the Republic of Moldova, which neighbors Ukraine. Both society and the systems that ensure the functionality of the Republic of Moldova as a nation-state have been under strain.
“For over a year already, since February 24, 2022, tens of thousands of the citizens of the Republic of Moldovan and representatives of our development partners, of international organizations and civil society became fully involved to offer assistance in overcoming the effects caused by the Ukraine war in the Republic of Moldova. The Service for Peace, in concert with and with support from the Global Media Creative Hub, today announce the launch of the second part of the Program “Respect Moldova, United for Peace,” stated Liviu Moraru.
The first part of the program was launched at the beginning of March 2022. The team, together with tens of volunteers, became involved in the development of an assistance program to offer support and collect information about what is happening in the Republic of Moldova as a result of the war taking place in the neighboring country. “We tended to produce activities that implied the non-violent involvement, through education, dialogue and sustainable cooperation, in the heightening and ensuring of the durable security of people,” noted Liviu Moraru.
The second part of the program centers on the assessment and extension of the Republic of Moldova’s involvement in the alleviation of the effects of the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. A series of activities and studies will be carried out and these will cover the whole effort made by the Moldovan authorities, the nongovernmental community and the international community involved in the management of the refugee crisis. There will be held roundtable meetings that will involve national and international experts. “We also intend to organize a set of media programs, such as talk shows, interviews with representatives of international assistance organizations, development partners, those who are daily and concretely involved in the management of this crisis, information videos and advertisements that will cover different subjects relevant to our goal, and surely these stories told by refugees,” said Liviu Moraru.
