The program on the Patron Saint Day of Chisinau starts at 8:30am with laying of flowers to the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy. A service at the Nativity Metropolitan Church will follow. As usual, national singers will perform on the stage in central Chisinau. The Romanian band “Holograf” is the special guest this year, IPN reports.
The festivities will be opened in the Great National Assembly Square at 11am. A folk performance will be given between 11:45-13:30. This will involve the orchestra of aerophone instruments, Maria Iliuț and the band “Crenguță de Iederă”, Nicolae Gribincea and the band “Plăieșii”, the ethno-folk ensemble “Romanița”, folk dances groups.
From 4pm until 6pm, the guests and residents of Chisinau are invited to watch performances of music in the renovated parks and squares of Chisinau. A brass band concert was scheduled to take place in the central square of the city at 6:30pm.
The evening concert, between 8pm and 11pm, will involve the band “Zdob și Zdub”, the municipal folk orchestra led by Advahov Brothers, singers Zinaida Julea, Adriana Ochișanu, Gabriel Nebunu, Maria Iliuț și “Crenguță de Iederă”, the ethno-folk ensemble “Ștefan-Vodă”, the band “Brio Sonores”. The Romanian band “Holograf” will hold its concert starting at 10:15pm.
The Patron Saint Day of Chisinau is observed on October 14, on the feast of the Intercession or Protection of the Theotokos.
