The Government approved the program of transition from analog terrestrial television to digital terrestrial television, IPN reports.

Based on the Geneva-2006 Regional Agreement ratified by Moldova in 2008, the country undertook to complete the transition to digital terrestrial television until June 17, 2015. Starting with this date, the analog TV channels will not benefit from protection in case of perturbations generated by the digital TV channels.

Under the program adopted by the executive, licenses will be issued in 2015-2017 for using radio frequencies for creating three terrestrial digital television networks (multiplexes) with national coverage and 21 networks with regional coverage. The first multiplex with national coverage is to be put into operation until June 17, 2015.
