Program of support for entrepreneurs who export to Romania

Companies that want to develop the business by exporting to Romania can benefit from support within the Export Missions program that was launched today, August 10. The program offers a strategic platform to encourage cooperation between businesses, experts in international trade and government institutions. Export Missions is implemented by the Investment Agency in partnership with the Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Competitiveness Project that is supported by the World Bank, IPN reports.

Viorel Garaz, secretary of state of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, told a news conference that it goes to economic missions to promote a number of national industries in Romania. The eligible areas are: textile industry, furniture, processing and many other industries.

“Romania over the past few years became the top partner of the Republic of Moldova. Not only the number of tickets and border crossings, but also the balance of payments and statistical data confirm this. I would like to note that Romania is one of the few countries with which we have an almost equal balance of payments. Romania is also the main supplier of fuel for the Republic of Moldova. The fuels are of a high quality and are consumed in a large volume and the fact that we have an almost equal balance of payments means that we cover this enormous sum with other goods that are made in the Republic of Moldova and are exported to Romania,” stated Viorel Garaz.

Investment Agency acting director Ion Iordachi said that at least 55 companies operating in a number of sectors will be selected. The procedure was simplified so that the producers that want to export to Romania for the first time are eligible. The service sector was also included as the Republic of Moldova generates services and Romania is a target market in this regard.

Aurel Casian, executive director of the Implementation Unit of the World Bank’s Competitiveness Enhancement Project, said one of the objectives is to increase business entities’ export competiveness. The goal of the economic missions is to extend the export markets. The project will support the organization of four economic missions over the next four years, starting with 2023. The project also provides information support regarding the opportunities and possible partnerships.

The 2023 edition of the program is devoted to Romania, while the next editions will center on exports to other countries, which will be selected together with entrepreneurs. The Export Missions program represents a concerted effort to support the development and expansion of local companies on international markets.

Applications to take part in the program can be submitted from today until September 5. Additional information will be published on the Investment Agency’s website.
