On August 31, the residents and guests of the capital city are invited to a series of events that will be held to celebrate the Our Language Day. Starting at 10.00, the authorities will lay flowers at the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great. A performance of music and poetry will take place afterward on the Alley of Classical Writers, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Chisinau City Hall has announced that the Writers Union’s stand dedicated to the Romanian Language will be opened in the central public garden at 11.00. In the afternoon, the National Library will house the 20th International Book Show that will include book launches and presentations, thematic exhibits, roundtable meetings, symposiums, book graphic artists’ workshops, painting exhibitions, etc. The event will close with the Gala of Laureates of the International Book Show. A religious ceremony in memory of the forerunners will be held at the Central Cemetery situated on Armeneasca St starting at 13.00. The Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova will open the 2011 contest-exhibition of plastic arts “Moldova’s Showrooms” at the international exhibitions center “Constantin Brancusi”, in cooperation with the Bacau Inspectorate for Culture. The concert in the Great National Assembly Square will start at 17.00. It will involve singers Nina Crulicovschi, Anatol Dumitras, Lidia Botezatu and Radu Dolgan, Gheorghe Topa, Anatol Marzencu, Ricu Voda, Silvia Grigore, Ioana Capraru, Nicolae Cibotaru, Lidia Bejenaru, Adriana Ochisanu, Ion Palade, Nicolae Glib, Maria Dragomiroiu, Catalin Josan, Angelika Vee, and others. The evening will close with a recital by Romanian singer Stefan Banica Jr.
