Official Independence Day festivities on August 27 will begin at 8:30AM with a flower-laying ceremony at the Mouring Mother monument and continue with flowers laid at Stephen the Great statue fifty minutes later.
Festivities in the Great National Assembly Square will start at 10:00AM with a solemn introduction, followed by a musical overture featuring the Presidential Orchestra, the National Broadcaster’s Symphonic Orchestra, composer Eugen Doga (with a piano performance) and musician Cristi Aldea-Teodorovici, among others.
At 10:15AM, President Maia Sandu will deliver a speech. Presidents Andrzej Duda of Poland Klaus Werner Iohannis of Romania and Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine will attend.
A military parade will begin at 10:25AM, followed by a folk music and dance concert featuring the Advahov Brothers, Zinaida Julea, Mihai Ciobanu, the Osoianu Sisters, the pop band Catharsis, and the National Ballet Company JOC, among others.
Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici will be back on stage at 1:00PM with a performance alongside his orchestra, followed by CinePark at 1:30PM.
Next up is a documentary compilation themed “Sovereign Moldova” and a selection of shorts promoting Moldova. The National Broadcaster will take over, with a televised concert titled “Moldova My Motherland”.
Elsewhere, the National History Museum will host an exhibition of stamps and coins dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence, opening at 12:00PM.
The Chisinau City Hall will hold several online events, including a book exhibition by the Transilvania Library and a painting exhibition by the Alexei Șciusev Art School. Outdoors, a cultural event will be held at the Sons of the Motherland Memorial starting at 11:00AM, and another one at the Valea Trandafirilor Park at 4:00PM.
