Program of festivities on May 9

The activities that will be held to mark the Victory Day on May 9 in Chisinau will start with laying of flowers at the memorial complex “Eternity”. The event will involve war veterans, veterans of the Armed Forces, students of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces and other persons. The Presidential Orchestra will perform songs about the war, Info-Prim Neo reports. A meeting dedicated to 66 years of the end of the Second World War will start at 10.00. Speeches will be delivered by war veterans, students and Acting President of Moldova Marian Lupu, who is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. Flowers will be laid afterward again. A one-minute silence will be observed in memory of those who had died in the war. The Guard of Honor will stage a march. After the festivities at the memorial complex, a performance will take place in the square of the National Opera House at 12 noon. It will involve national orchestras, brass bands and singers. The veterans will enjoy a charity meal. A concert by students of the National Musical High School “Serghei Rahmaninov” will start at the Organ Hall at 1pm. On May 9, it is 66 years of the signing of the German capitulation treaty in 1945.
