Program of festivities on Day of Chisinau

The holiday program planned by the district head’s offices of the capital city for the Day of Chisinau that is celebrated on October 14 includes exhibitions, fairs and cultural-artistic events that will be staged on the main artery between 12 noon and 6pm.

Centru district head’s office: Ismail – Armeneasca

The Centru district head’s office will occupy the section between the streets Ismail and Armeneasca, where a Peasant’s Yard will be set up, with a Big House, Moldovan traditional dishes, rural sceneries and a terrace for spectators. Plastic artists and craftsmen, publishing houses and bookshops of the districts will mount exhibitions.

Songs dedicated to Chisinau will be played in the square of “Unic” store. Young poets, children’s modern and folk dances groups, pop and folk singers will give a performance entitled “We are your future, dear Chisinau”.

This will be followed by a recreational program entitled “Together we make life a holiday” that will involve young singers and will include demonstrations and modern and sports dances that will be staged in concert with creation organizations and studios. Fire shows will be presented in the evening.

Ciocana district head’s office: Armeneasca – Mihai Eminescu

The holiday stage that will be set up in the perimeter of the streets Armeneasca and Mihai Eminescu will be occupied mainly by children and teens who attend creation centers of Ciocana district. Adelaida Boico, head of the Ciocana Culture, Youth and Sport Division, said their program is organized in cooperation with a TV channel that will also present a holiday program. The celebrations will begin with a performance of orchestral music that will be followed by a concert by children of the creation center “Ghiocel” and students of the lyceums “Mihail Berezovschi” of Chisinau and “Toader Bubuioc” of Bubuieci.

At 3pm, a performance will be given by invitees from Romania. Among the national stars that will perform are Mariana Mihaila, Ioana Capraru, Aurel Chirtoaca, Elena Javelea, Victoria Lungu, and Cristina Scarlat.

“We will also stage exhibitions and fairs of craftsmen and dancing masterclasses for all the attending children,” stated Adelaida Boico.

Botanica district head’s office: Mihai Eminescu – Pushkin

Traditionally, the activities organized by the Botanica district head’s office on the Day of Chisinau will be presented in the area between the streets Mihai Eminescu and Pushkin. Performances will be given by local children’s and youth artistic groups.

“The concert will involve the folkloric ensembles Plaiesii, Bastina, Haiducii, the folk music ensemble “Rapsozii Moldovei”, the ensemble of the Special School. No.12 for children with hearing impairments and the children’s and youth ensemble of the studio of the Cultural Palace of Railway Workers. We want to promote young talents,” said the head of the Botanica Culture, Youth and Sport Division Vadim Smantana.

There will be staged exhibitions and sales of works made by craftsmen and national business entities.

Buiucani district head’s office: Tricolor – Mihai Viteazul

Elena Iepure, head of the Buiucani Culture, Youth and Sport Division, said the main stage of the Botanica district will be placed in the square of the National Opera House. The program will be opened by a performance that will feature children of creation centers and education institutions of the district. This will last for almost two hours.

Later, during nearly four hours, the same stage will be occupied by national pop and folk music singers, such as Lavinia Rusu, Lidia Bobeica, Carolina Gorun, Maria Codreanu, Laurențiu Popescu, Natalita Munteanu, Maria Iliut, Constantin Rotaru, Natalita Proca, and Doina Arsene.

Rascani district head’s office: Banulescu Bodoni – Maria Cebotari

The head of the Rascani Culture, Youth and Sport Division Sergiu Anisei said they will stage their program on the upper part of Stefan cel Mare Blvd, from the monument to the ruler up to Maria Cebotari St. There will be set up a Big House with Moldovan towels and carpets. As each year, girls wearing clothes made from autumn fruit and vegetables will present a parade entitled “Autumn Fairy”, while students of the Light Industry Center of Excellence will stage a fashion show.

“We didn’t invite national stars as we decided to bank on our own forces. All those who take part are awardees of different contests. We chose the best ones,” stated Sergiu Anisei.

Chisinau municipality celebrates 581 years of the first documentary attestation. The celebrations on October 14 will start with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy, at 8:30am. Later, a group of priests will hold a liturgical service at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”. The festivities will be officially opened at 11am, in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral. The International Folk Dances Festival “Let’s Dance” will be launched shortly afterward. Ensembles of education institutions of Chisinau will give a performance at 2pm. The concert dedicated to the Day of Chisinau will begin at 6pm and will last until close to midnight. Romanian singer Stefan Banica Jr is the special invitee this year.
