Program of activities on Chisinau's Day
The festivities dedicated to the Chisinau's Day will start one week before the event marked on October 14, said the head of the Culture Division Lucia Culev, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The activities will start on October 7 with the opening of a photo exhibition themed “Chisinau Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” in the square in front of the monument to Ruler Stefan the Great.
There will be held the International Puppet Theaters Gala “Licurici 65" and the International Dance Sport Contest “Open-2010”. An album will be launched, dedicated to the late politician and Mayor of Chisinau Nicolae Costin.
The second Poetry Festival “Grigore Vieru" will take place in Iasi on October 10 and in Chisinau on October 12. A personal exhibition by master Tudor Zbarnea will be opened the same day at the Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brancusi”. There will be unveiled two commemorative plaques dedicated to poet Grigore Vieru and composer Mihai Dolgan. They will be located on the buildings were the two personalities lived.
The activities on October 14 will start with laying of flowers to the monument to Stefan the Great. A religious service will be held afterward. Later, the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca and other officials will deliver speeches. Famous persons will be conferred the title of citizen of honor of Chisinau.
The district heads' offices will stage concerts and other festivities. A spectacular concert involving Moldovan and Romanian stars will begin in the Great National Assembly Square at 17.00. It will include a show by Dan Balan. A fireworks display will be held in the end if a sponsor is found, Lucia Culev said.
An epoch cars race will take place on October 14. In the evening, the legendary rock band Scorpions will give a recital at Zimbru Stadium.
