Doctor Habilitate of Political Sciences, university professor Victor Moraru, who is a coordinator of the Social and Economic Sciences Section of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, was awarded the order Star of Italy, the knight degree, for special contribution to developing the social and economic sciences and for promoting the Italian culture and language. The award was handed over by the Ambassador of Italy in Chisinau Enrico Nunziata, IPN reports.
In an interview for Radio Moldova, Victor Moraru said he is among the first Moldovans who received this order and is honored to have been conferred it as it is a sign of appreciation and recognition of his work aimed at promoting the Moldovan-Italian relations.
“This work started in 1998, when I was offered scientific internship in Italy. I liked to translate from Italian as I felt the need to bring the accomplishments of the Italian science and culture to Moldova and Romania. The most important one is probably the book of the famous politologist Domenico Fisichella, dedicated to political science. It enables to know well the Italian politology,” stated Victor Moraru.
The professor said that this book was included in the list of mandatory or additional works at all the faculties of political sciences in Chisinau and in Bucharest, Iasi and other Romanian towns.
Victor Moraru also received the Italy Prize in 2012.
