Professional training for Pruncul detainees

Classes providing professional training for Moldovan detainees started on Thursday, September 18, at the Pruncul prison in Chisinau with the support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, citing a press release from OSCE. “We hope that these classes will contribute to the re-socialization of the detainees and help them to start a new life after release from prison,” said Ambassador Philip Remler, head of the OSCE Mission. The Mission provided the Moldovan Penitentiary Department with technical equipment to teach the professions of welder, plasterer and plate fitter in three annual training sessions for 45 detainees at the prison. Those who complete the training courses will receive certificates from the Education Ministry. The training courses are part of the OSCE Mission’s support for the Moldovan Penitentiary Department’s penitentiary reform. The Mission has earlier supplied all prisons in Moldova with social and legal information literature.
