Profession schools and colleges open gates for applicants
July 2 marks the start of admissions into profession schools and colleges. Universities will start admissions 2 weeks from now, on July 16, reports Info-Prim Neo.
Education deputy Minister Loretta Handrabura stated that the applications may be submitted till the end of July, and the results will be announced in August.
There will be a new discipline in colleges this year – Acquisitions. “We also have two new job training programs: Technical-sanitary systems and equipment fitter, and Electrician, auto electronics technician – a very popular and highly demand field by our graduates”, the deputy Minister mentioned.
A new discipline will also appear in superior studies institutions – Welding engineering. This year, for the first time, tuition-free seats will be available for majors in Informational Security and Railroad Transport Engineering. There will also be tuition-free seats for two environmental disciplines – Plant Protection and Environmental Security.
A novelty for this year is that the methodology of teaching will be decided upon by the Senate. Previously, this decision was being made by the Ministry and Rectors’ Council.
According to the Ministry of Education, 53,947 pupils and students overall will be admitted this year. There are 20,665 seats for undergraduate studies, of which 6,745 are tuition free. 11,117 pupils will be admitted to colleges, of which 5,386 will not pay tuition, and in profession schools there are 14,200 seats, the majority of which (i.e. 13,500) are tuition free.
