Proceeds from XI Winter Bazaar will go to 5 NGOs serving women and children

The cash proceeds yielded from the annual XI Winter Charity Bazaar, to be held on December 15 by the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM) at Moldexpo Centre, will go to fund projects of five NGOs working for underprivileged children and women. The president of the IWCM Grant Committee, Kyra Buchko, told Info-Prim Neo that the selected NGOs will use the funds to provide assistance to diverse socially and economically vulnerable categories of people. Generatia Mea NGO, from Chisinau’s suburban village of Gratiesti, will use the donated money to purchase several sewing machines and organise sewing courses for the local youth. The cottage hospital in Balauresti village, Nisporeni district, will organise a training seminar for nurses, who will subsequently spread information among the population in their villages about different diseases like cancer and STD. The organisation “Caroma Nord” in Parlita, Falesti district, will offer a training course for a group of unmarried young women who wish to start a business. Pro Dezvoltare NGO in Harbovat, Anenii Noi district, will connect the household of an elderly woman to the water supply system, while the kindergarten Spicusor in Criuleni will set up a club for parents, where they will learn how to give a proper education to their children. This year’s charity bazaar has brought together 14 national and international organisations. The visitors will be able to buy Christmas presents for their family members and friends choosing from a wide variety of holiday cards, souvenirs, clothing, toys, cosmetics and perfumes, candies, Christmas ornaments, books and magazines, etc. In 2006 more than 3,000 persons visited the Winter Bazaar. In the past ten years the bazaars have risen over $75,000 for charity to the benefit of underprivileged children and women in Moldova. The International Women’s Club of Moldova was started in April 1997. Initially, IWCM was for expatriates to provide them opportunities for charitable work and insights into the life and culture of Moldova. The club is now open to all women.
