The children from Ukrainian refugee families the first four days will attend municipal kindergartens without presenting the certificate confirming that they are refugees, Ana Vartic, head of the Preschool Management Unit of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, told IPN.

The official said the parents should first present the certificate of beneficiaries of the Refugee Placement Center at which they were lodged and during the next four-five days should also present the document showing that they are refugees.

“The children are now put on additional registers. During four-five days, the children attend the kindergarten based on the accommodation certificate of the parents, who should later bring the refugee status document,” stated Ana Vartic.

According to her, the Ukrainian parents who want to enroll their children at kindergarten should present fewer documents, including the application to have the child admitted to the kindergarten, the copy of the parent’s IDs, the copy of the child’s birth certificate and a medial certificate. In this case, a PCR test is not mandatory.

Medical checkups are done at the Territorial Medical Association. The minors need to have a COVID-19 certificate, as the regulations of the Territorial Medical Associations provide. The child can go to kindergarten the next day after the medical certificate is presented and can attend this while the parents are temporarily in the Republic of Moldova.

Ana Vartic noted there are not many available places at the kindergartens in Chisinau and the Ukrainian refugee children will be admitted to the early education institutions that can accept more children.

According to the latest reports, about 19,000 children of Ukrainian refugees are currently in the Republic of Moldova.
