The Civil Status Service has launched a new service called e-marriage. For the time being, it focuses only on marriages with foreigners. The service enables to ask for the certificate showing that the name or surname weren’t change and for the civil status certificate over the Internet by paying taxes through any payment terminal on the country’s territory, Info-Prim Neo reports. Civil Status Service director Lucia Ciobanu said the mentioned documents become available during 5 to 30 days. The tax is 10 lei, while the cost of the service remains unchanged. Thus, 200 lei is paid when the certificate is issued within five days, 120 lei within 15 days, and 40 lei within 30 days. The certificate is issued free of charge in a period of over 30 days. If the person asks to be issued with the civil status certificate or the certificate on the non-modification of the name or surname within five days, the documents can be taken only from the Document Issuing Division situated at 11 Mihai Viteazu St in Chisinau. In the other cases, the documents are released at any civil status office of the country on the presentation of the identity card. The foreigners who live abroad and intend to marry a Moldovan citizen can obtain these certificates through a person authorized by power of attorney.
