Representatives of about 25 companies from the U.S., Romania and Moldova came together for an investment forum in Chisinau to discuss the problems confronting the water suppliers in Moldova. SA Apa-Canal Chisinau director Constantin Becciev, who is the president of the Association “Apa-Canal”, has told Info-Prim Neo that among the discussed problems is the need to replace the gaseous chlorine with another disinfectant, to rehabilitate the water treatment and pumping stations, to modernize the water and sewerage systems. In the opening of the forum, Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said they aim to attract new investments to the water supply sector. The investments and solutions of the colleagues from abroad will enable to modernize the water supply system and save electric power. It will be thus possible to purchase new equipment, the mayor stated. “The forum can help solve some of the most serious problems faced by the people – the supply of drinking water and provision of sewerage services,” said Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Salaru. The investment forum on water supply will continue on April 14 with a roundtable meeting that will discuss partnership programs. Specialists will pay visits to building sites and the water treatment station in Chisinau.
