The “United Moldova” party accuses the government of institution monopoly over media. The party claims it is denied the access to media, and its members are persecuted, having to hide their belonging to the party, Info-Prim Neo reports. Its leader, Ana Tcaci, stated at a news conference on Monday that the national radio and television, which are financed from the state budget, are impelled to mirror only the rulers' activity. This is felt especially by the newly-formed parties, Ana Tcaci said. According to her, “Moldova Unita” is deprived of having its educational, moral or charitable actions covered. The Government has divided the society into “ours” and “strangers”, uses the state administration to defend their group interests exclusively, Tcaci said. “The rulers impel their decisions on society as absolute truths. The political opponents are persecuted by fabricating penal files to them, their representatives are ousted from executive structures, while the simple members of the opposition parties are not offered jobs,” she claims. According to Ana Tcaci, “United Moldova” decides not to join political parties, which ruled earlier or have representatives in the parliament, because it wants to come with a new team. “Moldova Unita” was registered in February 2006 and joins 8,000 members now. The party declares itself to be centrist. Its emblem represents three people hold one another's hands representing Moldova, Gagauzia and Transnistria. It wants Russian to be declared as the second official language, considering it a prerequisite for settling the Transnistrian conflict. It also stands for friendly relations with Russia.
