ACUM bloc is urged to support an apolitical, joint candidate of pro-European and Unionist forces for the capital's City hall. The appeal to the leaders of PPDA and PAS was made during a press conference held at IPN by Gheorghe Constandachi, the chairman of PRO Civic Movement.
Gheorghe Constandachi mentioned that it would be a good idea for the ACUM bloc not to submit any candidate for the capital’s mayor position. "If they put forward a candidate, there will certainly be two choices: either to vote for an incompetent person for the only reason not to allow Ion Ceban to succeed, or not to vote and the City Hall will go to PSRM," said Gheorghe Constandachi.
Also, the chairman of PRO Movement said that all entities and social-political movements supporting the EU integration and reunification with Romania must identify a joint candidate.
Gheorghe Constandachi claims that the organization he runs has analysed on current basis the corruption acts at the City Hall. "We will present the study, of about 150 pages, in which we will show what Chisinau municipality leaders do. We have shocking data," said the PRO Movement chair. Gheorghe Constandachi says that neither City Hall employees, nor the citizens, want a person from the political area to come to power at the mayoralty.
Alexandru Gamanji, deputy chairman of the PRO Movement, maintained that the minibuses issue was a very serious one for the capital. "These minibuses should not exist. It's terrible what's going on. Yesterday, in minibus 166, people were cramped together like fish in a can," said PRO deputy chair. He also mentioned some of the unfulfilled promises of all the capital’s administrators, among which the construction of a ring road, underground passages and overpasses, parking lots.
"We have learned that the people who run for the mayoral office have legal studies, are historians, mathematicians, political scientists. How can people with such studies manage a city like Chisinau? No person without experience in top management positions will face the huge amount of work”, specified Alexandru Gamanji.
The deputy chairman of PRO Movement called on the capital’s inhabitants to pay attention to the professional and moral profile of the candidate who wants to serve as mayor.
