All the costs associated with the treatment of patients with COVID-19 at home during public health emergencies and pandemics should be fully covered by the state, said representatives of the Pro Moldova Party who drafted a bill to this effect, IPN reports.
According to the party, the cost of anti-COVID-19 treatment at home is of 5,000-6,000 lei on average. “Currently, tens of thousands of medically insured persons have to cover themselves these costs, being neglected by the Government despite the red alert in the health system and the precarious economic situation”.
“It is absolutely unacceptable for the people with a health insurance policy to fully pay the price of medicines and the diagnostic testing and examination costs. In the current conditions, the value and necessity of the health insurance policy are questionable. Therefore, we need to restore equity by covering the costs for persons who receive treatment at home,” stated the leader of Pro Moldova Andrian Candu, being quoted in a press release.
Pro Moldova’s bill stipulates that regardless of the status, the treatment and examination costs will be fully covered by the state following the amendment of the law on the mandatory health insurance policy.
Moldova has got 52,029 infections with the novel coronavirus so far. At the start of September, 5,654 persons with mild forms of COVID-19 were receiving treatment at home.
