The leaders of the PLDM, PDM and PL last night initialed the agreement to form the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) 3 that is to be signed by all the MPs of the three parties today, July 22, IPN reports.
The chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat said they agreed all the issues discussed during the negotiations. “It is a good and balanced political agreement that will ensure a stable ruling coalition in Moldova and based on which the Government will be invested in the nearest future,” he stated.
The Liberal-Democratic leader also said that they agreed how to distribute the main state posts. Thus, the post of Prime Minister will be held by the PLDM, that of Speaker – by the PDM, while the head of state will be voted in by a consensus-based method, in accordance with the position of the PL.
The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the Alliance for European Integration that seemed dead, returned to life and became the AEI 3. “This is a good sign for the people and for the European partners and also for us as we must complete what we undertook together in 2009,” he stated.
The head of the PDM Marian Lupu said the negotiations are over. “We ended the talks by initialing the agreement on the formation of the AEI 3. We now have to appoint the Government. On Wednesday we will meet to discuss the nominal composition of the Cabinet and will then consult the head of state. I can assure you that the Government will be invested in a short period of time, as we aimed initially,” he stated.
The leaders of the three parties also said that they agreed to stage a referendum to amend the Constitution so that the head of state could be elected by a simple majority of votes of MP.
