In order to win the elections this fall, pro-European parties must promote credible politicians on their electoral lists and avoid mutual attacks. The recommendation was made by the head of the Association for Foreign Policy (APE) Victor Chirila at a press club organized by APE at IPN.
The expert says that the image of current political leaders has been stained by corruption and influence peddling scandals and the parties need to put credible politicians at the helm and on their electoral lists in order to restore their image. Chirila thinks that current Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Speaker Igor Corman have spotless reputations, are supported by European partners, and they should become the leaders of their parties.
The APE director says that the only way politicians can obtain the people's votes is to rein in their ambition and act correctly. He is sure that politicians must get along and establish an informal composition of the future government, which will carry out unfinished reforms.
Otherwise, the risk is that parties will denigrate each other and lose credibility. If this happens, Chirila expects a tough campaign in which mutual denigration will hurt both sides.
He doesn't rule out a possible coalition between the Democrat Party and the Communists' Party if the current coalition fails to gain a majority of seats to appoint the government.
