Students of the Chisinau Romanian-French Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” on April 30 staged a flashmob meeting on the occasion of the liberalization of the visa regime. The event was held following a recommendation by the Ministry of Education to organize the thematic week “Let’s discover Europe”, IPN reports.
The festivity was opened by the director’s lyceum Boris Volosatyi, who encouraged the young people to make use of this freedom so as to have access to more knowledge. “Today Moldova can celebrate the return home and the regaining of freedom at home, here, in Europe,” he stated.
The students hoisted the flags of Moldova and the European Union and sang the national anthem. “It is a door that opens new possibilities, especially for young people. We now have the chance to discover a new culture and to bring it home. This way, we will be nearer a modern society. Congratulations to all those who contributed to this memorable day,” said eleventh grader Mihaela.
“We thank the children and the teachers and those who contributed to this event. We do not celebrate the liberalization of the visa regime every year. It’s a great joy for us all,” deputy director for education Vasile Bodruc stated for IPN.
Last week, the Ministry of Education issued a circular, recommending the education institutions to organize activities on European themes between April 29 and May 8. Within these events, the students will discuss the European integration and will familiarize themselves with the history and culture of Europe and the functioning of the European institutions. Thematic debates and contests of essays, drawings and posters will be staged in schools.
From April 28, the Moldovans can travel visa-free in the EU.
