The Cahul-based Resources and Consultancy Center “Ograda Noastra” (“Our Yard”) designated the winners of the prizes “Best Student of the Year” and “Most Active Student of the Year” in the 2013 – 2014 academic year for the fourth consecutive time, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the NGO.
Twelve children from four settlements will be awarded this year. The winners of the prize “Best Student of the Year” will receive diplomas and by 1,000 lei, while ‘the most active students’ – by 400 lei.
The Center’s executive director Tatiana Costev said the uniqueness of the prizes program resides in the fact that it is implemented in socially deprived communities where the need for support and motivation is felt most acutely.
Principal of the secondary school of Gribova village of Drochia district Aliona Rybak said the results of the program are very good and the academic performance of students and participation in extracurricular activities increased considerably.
The program was launched in two villages of Cahul district - Alexanderfeld and Zarnesti. Afterward, in 2012, it was extended to Mingir, Hancesti and to Gribova, Drochia. Twenty students have been awarded so far. In the future, the program will be extended to other settlements.
The diplomas of merit and the money awards will be distributed at the school year end festivities on May 30.
