The Government approved the value of the prizes that will be offered to athletes who will compete in the first edition of the European Games. These will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, on June 12-28, 2015, IPN reports.
Moldova will be represented by over 90 sportspersons in 12 events, including swimming, athletics, canoeing, wrestling, sambo, taekwondo, cycling and judo. It will be the largest delegation of Moldova at Olympic games so far.
The Moldovan athletes who will win gold medals will receive by 200,000 lei. The prize for a silver medal will be 160,000 lei, while for a bronze medal – 120,000 lei.
The European Games of Baku will allow the athletes to gain qualification for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
