The government has banned guarding by private companies of state entities of strategic importance, IPN reports with reference to a decision approved at the meeting on September 25.
Private security will be prohibited in the ministries and organizational structures in their subordination; central administrative authorities subordinated to the Government and organizational structures, including public institutions financed from the state budget; autonomous public authorities; objects for storing weapons, ammunition, explosive materials and radioactive substances.
Also, private companies will no longer be able to guard entities for storing narcotic, psychotropic substances (except for medical institutions and private pharmacies); the courts and the Prosecutor's Office; state-owned companies and companies where the state is a majority shareholder.
"It is a draft law that will help us to dismantle a corruption scheme set up by the oligarchic regime. Many state institutions were "guarded" by Plahotniuc's companies or his people. It is not clear, these contracts were awarded in a very dubious manner and we also experienced the way these institutions were guarded,” said Prime Minister Maia Sandu.
